RCPD, Lawrence seek community assistance in rape case
Police on Thursday announced they have connected a 2015 attempted rape with a string of rapes committed in Manhattan and Lawrence. Now they’re asking for the public’s help in reporting any other sexual assaults that might be linked.
In a joint press conference Thursday morning, the Riley County and Lawrence police departments announced that their investigation into 11 rapes and two attempted rapes from 2000 to 2008, as well as an attempted rape that occurred on this date in 2015, has led them to believe one person is responsible for all of them.
“We would like to know if there have been similar, unreported incidents during that time span,” RCPD director Brad Schoen said.
